April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Lift Our Voices is continuing our work to support all survivors of sexual assault, harassment, and workplace toxicity and discrimination. After landmark legislation was signed into law by President Biden, we’re moving forward on our next steps to protect survivors. And over the last few weeks, we’ve shared our message at several events to get the word out on the many ways Lift Our Voices is making progress to make workplaces safer for all.

LIFT OUR VOICES ON THE ROAD

Last month, we joined National Press Club president Jen Judson in Washington, D.C. for a Newsmaker event to discuss landmark #MeToo legislation ending forced arbitration, and how we can continue to make systematic change in the workplace by eliminating the legal provisions used to silence survivors. Lift Our Voices also hosted a webinar with the Conference Board featuring Gretchen Carlson, Sen. Kristen Gillibrand (D-NY), and Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO), key bipartisan supporters of the recent passage of the bipartisan bill to end forced arbitration. Moderated by Paul Washington of the Conference Board, the three discussed their success passing the legislation, and the unfinished business of protecting even more workers when it comes to NDAs and workplace discrimination round gender, race, age, or and other factors.

The fight is far from over

The passage of bipartisan legislation eliminating forced arbitration is historic progress to protect millions of employees across the country, however, this is only the beginning for Lift Our Voices. We hope to continue to end toxic environments by working towards legislation that allows employees to share their own stories, without fear of retaliation.
