Newsletter: Autumn 2020

Dear Friend,

Despite the unusual and difficult circumstances of the past year, we hope that you are enjoying a peaceful holiday season. As the year draws to a close and in honor of #GivingTuesday, we wanted to update you on what Lift Our Voices has been up to over the past several months.

First and foremost, we are proud that earlier this year, our organization asked all 2020 presidential candidates to support our mission to eradicate non-disclosure agreements for toxic work issues. In response, President-Elect Joe Biden became the first Democratic candidate to join our cause, saying, “Sexual harassment and other types of discrimination at work are simply unacceptable. No one should be forced to sign a non-disclosure agreement that prevents them from speaking out about harassment or discrimination, and Joe Biden opposes non-disclosure agreements that have been used to silence survivors.”

We appreciate President-Elect Biden’s commitment to our mission and hope that he will both speak forcefully about fostering a more equitable environment for American workers and work with Congress to enact legislation that makes mandatory arbitration clauses and NDAs for toxic work issues a relic of the past.

Each quarter, we will highlight the work of one of the people or organizations whose generosity makes our work possible. This quarter, we would like to thank Craig Newmark, the founder of Craigslist, for his contribution to Lift Our Voices. Craig Newmark Philanthropies has long been a champion of helping women, communities of color and others fight for a more just world.

We hope you will consider donating to our efforts to make the American workplace safer for all, especially women, people of color and other traditionally disenfranchised workers. All contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permissible by law.

We wish you a happy and healthy holiday season. Thank you for your continued support and generosity to protect American workers.
