Newsletter: January 2022

Dear Friend,

Welcome to 2022! We at Lift Our Voices have had a strong and productive start to the new year and are excited to share our progress with you.

As we continue our work to protect workers and survivors across the country, we wanted to update you on several major developments, starting with congressional movement on the forced arbitration bill, which we hope will soon land on President Biden’s desk for signature after upcoming action in Congress in February.

IN THE NEWS: FEDERAL BIPARTISAN LEGISLATION TO PROTECT SURVIVORS

Lift Our Voices was featured in the Albany Times Union on the federal legislation that will eliminate forced arbitration in cases of sexual harassment or assault. Spearheaded by our own Gretchen Carlson, the Ending Forced Arbitration for Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act of 2021 holds abusers accountable by eliminating the harmful legal practice that places survivors in a secret chamber and denies them justice.  We are grateful to the bill’s bipartisan co-sponsors and continue to advocate for state and federal legislation that finally puts an end to concealment clauses such as forced arbitration and non-disclosure agreements for toxic workplace issues.

GRETCHEN AND JULIE JOIN BERKELEY LAW’S WORKPLACE SEXUAL HARASSMENT CONFERENCE

On January 27, Lift Our Voices co-founders Gretchen Carlson and Julie Roginsky participated in the keynote panel at the University of California Berkeley School of Law’s 2022 Conference on Workplace Sexual Harassment. Gretchen and Julie discussed our work to eliminate the use of legal practices such as NDAs and forced arbitration clauses from the workplace – the first step towards protecting all employees from sexual harassment and toxicity.

COMING SOON: LIFT OUR VOICES ON MEDIUM

Lift Our Voices believes that there is inherent value in our ability to share our stories and give voice to those who have been denied the ability to speak their truth for far too long. We will be using our voices on Medium to discuss our experiences and why we are so passionate about advocating for change in the workplace. We will also feature posts by changemakers who have inspired us along the way. We would love it if you would join us! Follow our account and stay tuned!

Thank you for your support as we continue to work to protect all American workers.
