Dear Friend,

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, Lift Our Voices has continued to make enormous strides toward a safer workplace for everyone. Thanks to your support, we have taken historic steps towards ensuring this reality by working to eliminate the harmful mechanisms that silence survivors’ voices.

PRESIDENT BIDEN SIGNS BILL TO END FORCED ARBITRATION

(Evelyn Hockstein/Reuters)

Earlier this month, we were honored to join President Biden and Vice President Harris at the White House for the signing of the Ending Forced Arbitration for Sexual Assault and Harassment Act. Championed by Gretchen, the legislation, which garnered broad bipartisan Congressional support, is a major step in creating a safer workplace culture across the country. In case you missed it, read more about this landmark bill’s passage in the Washington Post.

But much more remains to be done. What’s next after this major victory? Read our op-ed in Ms. Magazine to learn about how this historic legislation is only the first step for Lift Our Voices as we work to create positive change in the American workplace.

Gretchen will also join two co-sponsors of the legislation, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and Congressman Ken Buck (R-CO) for a conversation about what the new law will mean for employees businesses at the Conference Board. Learn more and register here.

STATES TAKING ACTION TO ELIMINATE NDAS FOR TOXIC WORKPLACE ISSUES

In both Washington State and New York, Lift Our Voices has been advocating for legislation that bans the use of nondisclosure agreements that silence survivors in the workplace – including an important bill that has now passed in Washington and is headed to Governor Inslee’s desk for signature.

Read our op-eds in The Olympian and the New York Daily News to learn more about how eliminating NDAs will create safer workplace conditions for employees across Washington, New York and the rest of the nation.

OUR NEW REPORT: REINING IN NDAs

We’re proud to partner with the Day One Project to call for specific policy interventions that better enforce existing laws and prohibit the most pernicious NDAs. Overly broad non-disclosure agreements pose serious risks to our economy and our society. Read our memo here.

We are grateful for your support.

JOIN US FOR A NEWSMAKERS EVENT AT THE NATIONAL PRESS CLUB!

We are excited to join the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. later this month for a Newsmakers event to discuss our law to end forced arbitration for sexual harassment and assault and Lift Our Voices’ mission to create even more lasting change in the workplace. Gretchen and Julie will join the club’s president Jen Judson for a panel discussion on March 29 at 10:00 a.m. EST. Follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to receive updates about the event.

Thank you for your support,

— Gretchen Carlson & Julie Roginsky | Co-founders of Lift Our Voices
