Newsletter: February 2023, Giving Workers Back Their Rights

Dear Friend,

It’s been an exciting month for Lift Our Voices! We continue to advocate for survivors of workplace misconduct and educate workers on their rights to take up their cases in open court. As we honor Black History Month, we look forward to ensuring that all workers subjected to discrimination, harassment and retaliation are free to speak about their experiences.

Earlier this month, we launched our Know Your Rights campaign to educate workers about new workplace protections under our Ending Forced Arbitration for Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act. Our digital video featuring advocates and survivors  is now running in markets across the country. We kicked off the campaign by hosting a virtual event featuring Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO), and former Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-IL); advocate and attorney Andowah Newton; and employment attorney Susan Lorenc. The program was moderated by Heather Nevitt, Editor-in-Chief of Corporate Counsel and Global Leaders in Law and co-hosted by ALM | Women, Influence & Power.

In order to spread the word about these important new rights for workers, we ask that you share our campaign video with friends, families, colleagues, and on your social networks. You can also learn more about our Know your Rights campaign by checking out our latest on Medium

This month, we also relaunched our website to include many new resources about our mission and work. Check it out here.

Looking Forward: In March, we celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Ending Forced Arbitration for Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act’s passage. The bill, signed by President Biden after passing Congress with bipartisan support, was the first concrete piece of our federal effort to ensure that all survivors can publicly come forward about workplace toxicity. We continue our mission to expand these rights to all other workers facing discrimination and retaliation.

On March 2, Gretchen will be a keynote speaker at the North San Diego Business Chamber’s 14th Annual Women’s Leadership Conference, where she will speak about making workplaces safer and more respectful. Learn more about the event here.

As we continue our work to lift the voices of survivors and employees, none of this would be possible without your support. Please consider a gift to ensure that we can continue our mission to make the American workplace safer for everyone.

Sincerely,

— Gretchen Carlson & Julie Roginsky | Co-founders, Lift Our Voices
