Petition to End NDAs That Cover Up Toxic Workplace Issues
Because every worker deserves the right to speak about rampant misconduct, I believe that non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) that cover up toxic workplace issues have no place in the American workplace.
One-third of all American workers are bound by NDAs, which prevent them from discussing bad behavior they experience or witness with colleagues and loved ones. NDAs are a driving force in silencing workers and promulgating a culture where employers are able to cover up toxicity, rather than address it and end it.
I call on our political leaders to demonstrate that they are on the side of all American workers to own their own stories and pledge to work to eradicate these harmful silencing mechanisms.
Why this pledge matters
Our elected officials represent the people of this country. The majority of us want to end the practice of using NDAs to silence workers who see or experience misconduct at work. Too often, workers are prevented from disclosing toxic workplace behavior, including discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
It’s time that our leaders stand up for American workers and ensure every single worker feels safe, respected, and included.
What this pledge will accomplish
This petition is aimed at all the candidates in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. Workplace dignity is a nonpartisan issue. By adding your signature, you'll show politicians that if they want your vote, they need to stand up for working people.
